From the user’s perspective, one of the most important things about a password is its memorability. But words that are easily remembered and especially short are exactly what hackers are hoping for! That’s why it’s vital to find the middle way between a memorable but nevertheless strong password.

To make sure you’re always on the safe side, here are some tips for creating a secure password, and what you can do to protect your passwords and the devices you use:
use at least 8, at best 12 characters
combine small and capital letters
use numbers (but no number sequences)
use special characters (e.g. &, %, $, #)
avoid repetition of characters
only use strong passwords
use different passwords for different purposes
change your passwords regularly
never share your password with anyone
don’t save your passwords in the browser
keep your passwords in a secure place
protect your device from access by others with a secure password
install antivirus programs and regularly update them
regularly update operating systems, browsers and software
set up a firewall on each device
protect your WiFi from access by others with a strong password
